♥ i'm going to dress myself divine.

i love the movie, funny face (1957)
especially the following scene where fashion photographer,
dick avery (fred astaire) directs the shy, bookish jo stockton (audrey hepburn)
in a "beautiful meets intellectual" fashion shoot for
the fictitious quality magazine.
simply. breathtaking.

for those of you who have never seen this film, (rent it!)
you may not know that the part of dick avery is loosely based
on the work of american fashion photographer extraordinaire,

his work is STUNNING, and includes many
of the shots shown in the opening scene of the film,
such as this overexposed image of audrey hepburn's flawless face:

i am pretty sure that i will never look as effortlessly glamorous
as the ladies in richard avedon's photography, but i
think if i owned one of these gorgeous gowns from
timeless vixen on etsy, i would be one
step closer to audrey hepburn,
who according to avedon,
"achieved in herself her
ultimate portrait."

what will your ultimate portrait look like?

4 ♥ love notes.:

  1. Those dresses are beautiful! I love the blue (4th one).

  2. i know i want EVERY last one of those damn dresses! they don't make them like they used to.

  3. Sometimes I wish we oculd turn back time, so we could dress in the past

♥ tell me how you really feel!
