♥ hot stepper.
in the world of retail, summer is practically over.
but in reality, there are still a few good weeks left of this glorious season!
soludos espadrilles are named after a combination of the spanish terms,
"salud" and "sol," which means, essentially, "cheers to the sun."
can you think of a better way to put a little "summer" in your step??
here are a few faves:

♥ just vegging out.
it's been a long time since i cooked for you guys!
i assure you- i haven't been living off processed foods-
it's just that, with an irresistibly cute baby that loves to be held
every second of the day, i find it very hard to find the time to get in
the kitchen and chop veggies. subsequently, nick and i have been eating a lot
of grilled cheese and a lot of pb & j. and with the summer heat,
a quick and easy meal like that is just fine with us.
of course, "quick and easy" does not have to mean "right out of a box,"
which is why i must share with you my favorite new recipe for
black bean veggie burgers, which i totally copied from
my little sister, jennie.
ingredients:
(1) 16 oz can of black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 green pepper, cut into two inch pieces
1/2 onion, cut into wedges
3 cloves of garlic, peeled
1 egg
1 tabelspoon chili powder
1 tablespoon cumin
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
directions:
1) preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2) in medium bowl, mash black beans with potato masher until thick and pasty
3) in food processor, finely chop green pepper, garlic and onion.
4) add chopped veggies to black bean mixture.
5) add egg, chili powder, cumin and chili sauce.
6) stir together and mix in bread crumbs until the consistency is enough
to form into four patties.
7) place patties on foil or baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes on each side.
8) add a bun, some ketchup, guacamole, pickles, etc & enjoy!! ;)

♥ drop everything and read.
i have no real desire to visit london, but then great,
must-see art projects like, "books about town," pop up everywhere
within walking distance, and i need to see them in person,
or in the very least, write about them.
here are some of my favorite (of the 50!)
book bench sculptures, painted by a variety of artists:
( nineteen eighty four, mrs. dalloway, through the looking glass,
great expectations & mary poppins!)

♥ tea (dresses) for two.
at my wedding, my bridesmaids each wore a little black dress-
and while i still love the idea of each girl being able to put that dress
to good use for some other occasion, i also la la love these vintage-
inspired tea dresses from soho mode on etsy!
how awesome would it be to pick your pattern from the
designer's vintage archives and have a dress custom made to your dimensions?
i'm obsessed!! i know it's only been three years, but should nick and i
get re-married so i can include these dresses? ha!

♥ a fool for tulle. part 11.
guess what i just bought?!! (but in grey!)
nothing makes me happier than twirling around in a full tulle skirt-
so when i saw this ballerina glam tulle dress, i knew i had to have it!
and at under $25- can you really blame me? :)

few things go better together than summertime and sunglasses.
so, in celebration of the sunshine and all of the pretty
accessories that go along with it, i give you this

♥ have a colorful weekend!
now that summer is in full swing, nick and i have been making every effort
to pack up henry and get out of the house as much as possible on the weekends.
our favorite spots so far have been the arboretum & duxbury beach-
but we are definitely open to suggestions as well :)
how have you been spending your summer afternoons?

♥ banded together.
as you probably know by now, i am a big fan of headpieces-
cat ears, turbans and headbands can add a bit of spice to an otherwise boring
outfit, and also, i'm learning, help to glam up momma's bed head.
so when i heard about banded, a great new brand of no-slip, automatically-
adjusting, headache-free headbands, i could not wait to give them a day-long trial
and see if they could last the day around my rather round head :)
they come in an array of colors and styles and in three different widths:
the inside of the headband is lined with a soft velvet that made it super comfortable
to wear ALL day long, AND it didn't budge!
not only are banded headbands amazing to wear-but they are also partnered
with Amazima, an organization that provides meals for children in
Uganda with every purchase. (since this may, 875,000 meals
have already been funded!)
got to love a company that does good for others,
while allowing you to look good as well!
