♥ it takes people a long time to learn the difference between talent and genius, especially ambitious young men and women.

this week, i was lucky to receive and review this recently published,
gorgeous coffee table book, alexander mcqueen evolution,
written by katherine gleason.

while i certainly count myself as a fan of the brilliant designer and was heartbroken to hear
of his tragic death in february 2010, i must confess that i came to appreciate him a bit too
late in the game to truly understand and appreciate the magnificent contributions that
he made to the world of fashion.

it is for this reason, that i was ecstatic to get my hands on this book, which so beautifully
documents the highlights of each and every runway show that he had a hand in (35 in total),
discusses the designer's inspiration behind each show- whether historical or fantastical-
and includes the reaction of the press, both positive and negative.

the vibrant images, combined with quotations from the fashion designer himself,
allow readers to transport back to a time when the fashion world
was potent with creative possibility and wondering what
lee alexander mcqueen would do next.
