♥ "my little dog - a heartbeat at my feet." ~edith wharton.

this past weekend i went to my family's house for a birthday party and
could not help but notice how quiet it is when i walk through the front door.
for years and years, our late beagle, charleston chu, would sound
the welcome alarm as soon as you entered: wagging his tail,
jingling his collar, sniffing your legs and letting out a howl
of delight to let you know that he was glad to see you.
this blog, dogs inside, reminds me of his wonderful
spirit and just how much a dog helps
make a house
a home.

8 ♥ love notes.:

  1. My entire family are big dog lovers! When our dog passed away when I was little, we didn't even go a week before getting a new one. It was so strange not to hear him walking around. I remember the house being so eerily quiet. And now... that dog has passed away as well (we had to put her to sleep a few years ago), but we had another dog at the time. So, we still have her and she is so loud and obnoxious and you have no idea how much I miss her! Sometimes I think I miss her more than my parents :P
