and even if everybody at her house

it is lovely to know

 someone else is awake,

sharing the evening sky

with her.

when i saw the houses at night collection

and though these images are

meant to convey a more eery feeling,

i feel warmed by the presence of

a single light on

in the bedroom 

of a house.

i recently decided that i need to do something about my overly cluttered necklace collection-

 and have been trying to come up with ways to display them that don't involve making

 too many holes in my apartment walls or spending a lot of money.

my solution? use the pieces i already have lying around the apartment--namely, 

a bust form for my longer necklaces and a faux roman bust for my smaller layering pieces. 

as you can see, i am quite the hoarder of betsey johnson & forever 21 baubles and have 

a much larger collection than i anticipated when i started this project today in the

 100 degree weather. hopefully, it will stay this pristine, but if not, there will definitely 

be a follow-up post on how not to organize your necklaces.

how do you display your jewels???

naina uses a tie rack to keep her necklaces from being tangled.

melissa used a wooden tray & antique spools for a vintage effect.

gen uses hooks & buddha statues to show off her bold necklaces.

jessica used a vintage chicken crate door for a unique and eclectic display.

if i had an extra $400 lying around, i would most certainly 

put it towards this unique & rare pair of staffordshire ceramic cats 

from artist rob ryan. they would live happily on my crowded bookshelf

with the other kitty figurines that i have collected throughout the years,

and keep talula company while i am away at work. 

i NEED them . i LOVE them. i WANT them.

♥ fuck you, notebook!

last week, i had the luck of attending roller disco, the super cheesy/super fun

 new musical at the oberon theater in harvard square with the lovely kristen,

michele & haley. and when we weren't trying to put our collective heads together 

to form some sort of opinion about what we witnessed that evening, we were 
also discussing creative writing- and our notebooks in particular. 


i confessed that i love the idea of carrying a small notebook with me
to jot down post ideas, pretty quotes, overheard conversations or maybe
some sketches, wherever i go- but the actuality of having this notebook with
me as a reminder of my inability to actually do these artsy things- is also a
hinderance and an annoyance rather than a pleasure.


at many points in my life, i have torn disappointing pages out of my
notebooks, or even pitched the entire thing into the trash for fear of
being discovered as some artistic fraud- when all i really needed to do
was take my own advice and: write more. write every day.

here are some notebooks in which i wouldn't mind
trying to do just that:

when my sister texted me the other day to tell me that 

one of my favorite books, life of pi, had been made into a film- 

with gerard depardieu, the first thing i thought was, "oh no!!!!"

but these pictures look like a pretty beautiful interpretation,

so i will have to refrain from any further judgement 

until i see it. i cannot wait.
