♥ it's a tie.

a few weeks ago, i finally found the time to stop by a local boutique, heiress,
where i fell in love with the beautiful bow tie designs of mariama bramble of brownbelle.
hand-made out of thrifted vintage fabrics, these neckties and headpieces
reflect ms.bramble's love for bold fabrics & unique
textures while also honoring a traditional style that
is both old and new.

how did you get started with brownbell and why bows?
i've always sewn as a hobby but have never consistently. i made one bow tie randomly and i was hooked!
i applied to the SOWA Open Market here in Boston not thinking that i would get in, but low and behold,
i did. i quickly had to create a business. i really loved the challenge- it was very exciting, a lot of freaking work, but very exciting. the potential is what really inspired me to morph a one-off project
into something more.

are they unisex?
bow ties are definitely unisex! check out my Facebook page for photos of ladies rocking bow ties.
they are just another accessory; i often find myself draw to men’s clothes because the cuts remain classic, while it’s harder to find classic cut items-especially shirts- for ladies.

where else do you sell and what are your plans with brownbelle in the future?
currently I sell my ties at heiress boston, a boutique in dorchester, but would definitely like to expand.
i have a few things up my sleeve for expanding BB, i'd love to offer earrings, clutches and whatever else my heart desires. there are infinite possibilities,i just want to continue to create things that people dig,
and push my boundaries creatively and as a business owner.

what else do you do?
during the day I work in corporate marketing, but other than that I cook, day dream, and make people laugh mostly.
(i think she left out being fabulous!)
