♥ easter realness.

while i am not doing much this year for easter-

i can never resist a good reason to break out a party dress.

i am loving the selections from the moscow-based sewing studio,

operating under the name mrs. pomeranz, which look to me like

the very breath of spring.

i will take one in every color, please.

last night was my glitz, glamour & gust-o event,

and in honor of such a glittering occasion, i broke out my

wedding shoes and took them for a twirl about town :)

i am not sure if it's the jelly-like material, the happy color combinations,

 or the very girly details, but i cannot get over how damn cute

 the vivienne westwood + melissa shoes are, and how

much joy they bring to my very sole.

...i think i need another pair asap!

♥ though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.

last night, i enjoyed a classic katharine hepburn film, summertime (1955),

which brings viewers right alongside hepburn's lovable character

 as she journeys to venice for the first time. 

as i took in the film and all of the magnificent sights and scenes, 

i could not help but remember one of the most basic truths:

one must always travel in style.

from her gloves to her stack of pearl bracelets,

her ribbon-wrapped buns & golden arm parties,

to her perfectly structured handbag & her kitten heels,

each gorgeous dress is better accessorized than the next.

i am so inspired to spend my next getaway entirely in dresses.

because i simply cannot wait for baz luhrmann's re-make of

 f. scott fitsgerald's famous novel, the great gatsby 

to come out in theaters!!!

the trailers alone makes my heart skip a beat 

and the glamorous, flapper-style costumes 

are equally droolworthy.

did you know that over forty of the dresses worn throughout the film were designed

 by miuccia prada in collaboration with costume designer, catherine martin?

 according to martin, "baz & miuccia have always connected on their shared

 fascination with finding modern ways of releasing classic and historical

 references from the shackles of the past." LOVE!!!

♥ holy guacamole!

it always amazes me when a simple combination of fruits &
vegetables combine to make the most flavorful of meals.

exhibit a: this delicious guacamole recipe.

ingredients:

2 ripe avocados
1 red onion, finely chopped
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 ripe tomato, chopped
1 lime, juiced
salt & pepper to taste

instructions:
1) peel and mash avocados in a medium serving bowl.
2) stir in onion, garlic, tomato, lime juice, salt & pepper.
3) season with remaining lime juice.
4) chill for a 1/2 hour to blend flavors.
5) break out a bag of tortilla chips & enjoy!

 so very old??!!?

please tell me that i am not the only one who feels this way.

whenever i read a book, i am on the lookout for words that will resonate with me,

and for sentences that are constructed in such an undeniably beautiful way that

my heart aches at the fact that did not write them myself-- even though 

i am so grateful to have chanced upon them.

regretfully, 

i cannot read all the books in the world,

and for this reason i am indebted to artists like lisa congdon, 

who seem to pluck the most perfect literary sentences

 out of thin air and put them into print.
