but i just wanted to share some happy news that is long overdue-

nick and i are expecting a baby boy next march!!

we are thrilled and have no idea what to expect.

you may not be able to tell from the picture, but my bump is 

growing larger by the day and getting dressed has been more of a 

challenge than i would have guessed. i am definitely open to

suggestions and will be sharing more on this blog as i make

the transition from cat mother to a real life mom :)

my friend and i were driving along in my car the other day,

when we noticed a good many birds taking flight into the evening sky.

she was startled by their seemingly synchronized movements and the way their 

bodies flashed erratically across the sky, creating one great undulating mass-

 but i have known birds to behave this way and even recalled a video 

i had watched before where they did the same thing. there was even a word for 

what they were doing. but what?

the word i was reaching for was... murmuration.

and thanks to the power of google, here is the video i happened

to watch on someone's blog, some time last year.

while i am kind of on the fence about lady gaga's latest album, art pop,

 after listening to it in full on spotify, 

i am quite certain that i love, love, love 

her spring/summer 2014 ad for versace.

♥ paper & pen.

when i was planning my wedding, i convinced myself that i could easily

 learn calligraphy (by watching a youtube video, perhaps?)

and then make out my wedding invitations in the

most gorgeous script.

but when the time came,

 i ended up using my own imperfect handwriting,

which may not have been as beautiful--but was certainly 

more personal. (remember how they looked?) 

if only i had known about this fabulous calligraphy starter kit,

which offers just about everything one would need to try their

hand at calligraphic writing. maybe i could stash it away

for my little sister's future wedding? ;)

it's supposed to be 70 degrees in boston today-

but i can't help but want to get ready for winter,

and what better way to daydream about holiday decor

than to drool over all the high priced, highly adorable

ornaments and baubles from anthropolgie?

someone needs to do a DIY of this

next week, my cousin, jaimee, and her husband will celebrate their one-year wedding

 anniversary-- and look what arrived just in time--a pair of gorgeous,

stackable wedding bands in both their birth stones!

she ordered these simple bands from sheri's designs on etsy, 

and couldn't be happier with how they came out.

they're so personal and pretty and the best part is that

they can be added to forever! LOVE IT!

please bring me these sunglasses from the latest dolce & gabbana ad.

we just got this sweet audrey shirt in at forevs,

and i think i might need it! isn't it just delicious?

lately, all i have been wanting to watch are hallmark christmas movies.

they are so wrong in all ways, quietly reinforcing every gender stereotype imaginable--

 but they are also such a good means of escape at the end of a tough work day.

thankfully, i do not have cable- and thankfully, i have an uncle who rents me

fantastic classics like together again (1944) from netflix to keep me from

getting sucked into the likes of snow bride and mrs. miracle for too long.

i am obsessed with irene donne's accessories in this film,

--the flower hat especially-- and just had to share.

you don't see costumes like these on the sets

of made for tv movies.

with thanksgiving just around the corner, 

just little things is the perfect reminder

of all the small moments that make

life so grand. and now, it's

available in book form!

some things get old. but my obsession with tulle will not cease.

if i had it my way, my whole closet would burst at the seams with

these tulle-accented pieces from ouma. so in love!

how beautiful is the hand-lettered typography of jasmine dowling?

after seeing an interview about her work on the blog, a pair & a spare,

i ventured over to jasmine's site, were i discovered that she was asked

recently to collaborate with online shop, molten store, on these

four prints. the first one is my favorite!
