♥ plus one.

i recently spotted this picture of my cousin, jaimee, on her facebook looking too cute
with the bridesmaid dress she wore for lissy's wedding + leg warmers.

typically, it is very difficult to re-wear a bridesmaids dress without
looking obvious- but my girl did it. just add legwarmers.

here are some faves:

have you tried this trend- again?

♥ cookies are made of butter and love.

since it appears i have been living on nothing but cookies lately,
i thought- why fight it?  here is a yummy chocolate-molases cookie recipe
i tried recently from martha stewart's cookie of the day  email club.

soft and chocolatey and showered in confectioner's sugar,
these little cookies will taste good days after making them-
which is both a blessing and a curse.

ingredients
1/2 cup seminsweet chocolate
1 stick unsalted butter
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
2/3 cup light brown sugar
1 large egg, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons dark molasses
1 tsp vanilla extract
confectioner's sugar for dusting

directions

1. put on an apron. just for kicks.
2. preheat oven to 350 degrees.
3. melt chocolate and butter in microwave on high in 30 second increments,
stirring after each until chocolate is almost melted. stir and let cool.
4. in separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, & baking soda. add brown sugar,
egg, molasses and vanilla to the cooled chocolate mixture, whisking to combine.
5. add flour mixture and combine.
6. scoop the dough by tablespoon and roll into balls.
7. place on a large ungreased cookie sheet
8. bake until crackly looking (about 12 minutes)
9. let cool, then dust with confectioner's sugar.
10. eat, enjoy, indulge.

♥ right in your backyard.

just wanted to share a photograph i took of the sunset
from my parent's back porch on thanksgiving.
sometimes the world outside your backdoor
 is so beautiful.

♥ pass it on.

"the book-lover's anthology stepped out of it's wrappings all gold-embossed leather and
gold-tipped pages, easily the most beautiful book i own including the newman first edition.
it looks too new and pristine to ever have been read by anyone else, but it has been:
it keeps falling open at the most delightful places as the ghost of it's former owner points me to
things i've never read before. like tristram shandy's description of his father's remarkable
library which 'contained every book and treatise which had ever been
wrote upon the subject of great noses.'

i do think it's a very uneven exchange of christmas presents. you'll eat yours up in a week and have
nothing left to show for it by new year's day. i'll have mine till the day i die- and die happy
in the knowledge that i'm leaving it behind for someone else to love. i shall sprinkle
pale pencil marks through it pointing out the best passages
 to some booklover yet unborn."
pg. 56

at the recommendation of my very good friend & fellow book-lover,
amanda, i recently purchased, devoured, and fell madly in love with
the utterly adorable book, 84 charing cross road.

told completely through letters exchanged back and forth between a book-loving
script writer and a number of friendly salespeople at a second hand book store in london,
this work is a very quick read and will just as quickly work it's way
 into your heart.

♥ a thankful heart is a happy heart.

via DVF.
there are so many things to acknowledge and appreciate this year.
here is a small list.

grandparents, who are still healthy, and who continuously try to
have a conversation with me, even if they don't speak english.

sisters and brothers who love me regardless of how obnoxious i am.

my beautiful friends and family, who stood by my side on
the best day ever.

my husband- who makes each day feel this magical.

my daddy, for walking me down the aisle,
and doing a superb job marrying nick & i.

my mama, who baked three hundred cookies for
our wedding and still does all of our laundry.

my new brother in law & my new niece on the way!

fashion icons like dvf, who prove that strong, empowered
women can rule the world gracefully and glamorously.

blog pals, who share a common love of fashion and english and the
importance of being well dressed at all times.

my friend timothy, who reminds me always that
every moment is the perfect time to strike a pose.

talula lu, who continues to tolerate my squeezing
and picking up and kissing of her each and every day.

the island of barbados,  for being so breathtaking
and so friendly that we never wanted to leave.

books & ice cream, two things that make life
endlessly enjoyable.

happy thanksgiving!
xoxo

♥ hair today, gone tomorrow.

poster via pop chart lab.

i'm going for a hair cut today and for once i don't
have a modern day pop cultural look that i am going for.
perhaps it's because so many stars are wearing wigs these days?

have you ever gotten an iconic hairstyle?
if so, which one?

♥ flowers are love's truest language.

i am so excited that cath kidston

and just in time for the holidays.

everything they offer,

♥ the cat's out of the bag.

i know i may be sort of old for christmas lists,
but if i could make an extravagant one, these charlotte olympia
kitty pumps would be at the tippy top of it.

i think they'd definitely help me
put my best foot forward.

♥ don't get it right, get it written.

huffington post recently shared an adorable app to help writers with a
soft spot in their hearts for cute kitties keep themselves at a
respectable pace.

i went through a terrible case of writer's block during
my senior year in college- if only i had had
written? kitten! to keep me motivated!

nowadays, i have the real thing.

♥ on a roll.

if you're a vegetarian, the last place you should work is a sandwich shop.
my first and last day working at a local sub shop was spent trying not
to make faces while handling deli meat and trying not to gag.

but, i do love the idea of sandwiches as art-
which is why i love the tumblr, scanwiches.
