inspiration comes in all shapes and sizes.
for me, it comes in the shape of a small, black, new york city kitty.
i have always adored the simple pen and ink illustrations of
one of my favorite childhood gems:
esther averill's jenny and the cat club.
her signature color palette throughout each adventure
is made up of a sharp contrast of black and white
with pops of bright, bold color
ranging from fire engine red, to bright yellow
to kelly green.
i often like to put together outfits using
these same motifs:
and once you start looking for inspiration,
it pops up everywhere: like on the inimitable carrie bradshaw.
what inspires you?
whether it is a piece of artwork, a character in a movie or another book cover
i hope that the next time you judge whether it is good--
decide first whether or not you would want to wear it.
