recent studies have shown that the average woman will eat
about seven pounds of lipstick in her lifetime.
but my mother is no average woman.
she will devour one solid tube of pink lipstick in a matter of weeks.
i am not sure exactly how she does it, but in mere days she manages to
wittle her favorite lipsticks down to an itty bitty point that is slanted on both sides.
her application and re–application of color is so steady and consant
that you would think that my mother's lips were naturally hot pink
because she is never without it. ever.
her sheets, towels, coffee mugs, you name it,
are all stained in her lovely color.
her signature pink lips literally enter a room before she does.
they are a bright beacon of happiness for anyone she sparkles past
and i often joke (and now know for sure, according to this video)
that the entire lining of her stomach is bright fuschia.
this post is dedicated to my mother, a woman whose
shocking pink lips remind me each and every day
how grand it is to stand out.
