♥ fashion friday: fancy furs.

at some point this year i started posting about fashion on fridays,
(like here, here, here & here) and then i lost momentum and kinda stopped.
then i started posting on fashion fridays for regarding design, and now
i feel like i want to bring it back full circle. so tada! here you have it.

this season's resurgence of fur stoles have literally stolen my heart.
yes, i am a vegetarian and do not believe in the senseless killing of
animals for their fur, but a little faux fur never hurt anyone, did it?

here are a few fur pieces that will leave your conscience clear,
your neck warm, and you wardrobe a bit more chic.

♥ teddy bears don't need hearts as they are already stuffed with love.

when i first saw these pictures of the holiday decorations at the galeries lafayette
in paris on the blog bardot in blue, i was A) super jealous that i was not in paris myself
to witness such a grand spectacle and B) suddenly struck by a craving for teddy grahams and
C) totally reminded of a book my mom once read me about a bear and a lonely doll.

written in the late 1950's, the lonely doll by photographer/model dare wright
went straight to the new york times best seller list for children's books
and was followed by 18 more. while the tales of edith, the lonely doll are said
to reflect dare wright's troubled childhood, they are also visually striking.
shot entirely in black and white and featuring ms. wright's very own childhood
doll, (whom she created a vast wardrobe for and also added hair!), these
books are still considered a true work of art.

very little is known about accomplished author/ photographer dare wright.
to this day, only one biography has been written. (listen to the npr interview here.)
and looking at her beautiful pictures, one may forget the inner sadness that came
through in her work. didn't she and her doll share an eerie likeness?

♥ we may not have it all together, but together we have it all.

my friend sarah sent along the cutest article from the ny times
that i just had to share with you. daniel and dasha faires are highschool
sweethearts & newly weds from arkansas who now inhabit a teeny tiny
375-square foot apartment in the big apple.

at $2,000 a month, this apartment boasts little over two rooms:
one bedroom and another for everything else-- which may sound like a
shoe-box until you see the pictures. thanks to the high ceilings, exposed brick,
the additional outdoor terrace and the couple's fabulous conglomeration
of found objects and re-purposed furniture pieces, their cozy nook appears
to be much roomier than you would imagine.

i love the chalkboard painted wall, the apothecary-like accessories and
the wooden furnishings made by mr. faires himself for his company,
capsule furniture. each piece comes with a small time capsule of
the wood's history. total genius.
